How to get rid of cellulite? It's literally the billion dollar question. But is it really as difficult as the cosmetic companies make out, or is it simply a matter of giving a bit of focus to our cellulite areas, to get rid of it?

Whatever you call it, cellulite! Orange Peel! Ripples of fat under the skin. The term was first appeared in Vogue in 1968. Until then no real attention was really given to it.

We all have it or have had it. But despite the billions of dollars this issue generates we still are yet to find out what actually causes it and how to treat it. There are some hugely expensive creams on the market that make miraculous claims but I am a sceptic.

I have only a little at the tops thighs. I attribute this solely to drinking so much water and my  twice weekly"miracle" DIY cellulite treatment! I have kept this up since noticing I had cellulite in my teens. The trick worked and I have kept it up ever since.  On the occasions when I have stopped I have most definately noticed a significant difference.

The causes of cellulite are a bit sketchy in scientific circles. However in my terms and my experience in the health and fitness industry it is a byproduct of the breakdown of the fat cells which causes the dimple like effect of the skin. 

For most of us cellulite is generally around our bum and upper thighs and hips. Generally around areas which are subjected to a lot of pressure i.e. sitting down. Of course there are other areas, including breasts and tummy area, but many of us experience it around the bottom and thighs. 

So what can we do about it. #1 you have to be cool with it, don't get obsessed, it is part of you, just try to improve it with a few simple changes I am going to tell you how and best of all you can do this for less than $5.

STEP 1 
DRINK 1 LITRE WATER PRIOR TO SHOWER


Do this intermittently about an hour or so before the shower. This is necessary to provide the main channel for toxins to be eliminated. Filtered water at room temperature is best.

If you follow such a treatment without drinking it is a waste of time and will certainly affect how affective it is.

STEP 2
LOOFAH / MESH POUF 


I prefer the mesh loofah as it is easier to use in the necessary circular motion rather than the long natural loofahs which can get a bit clumsy. 

Lather the soap on to the loofah and start to scrub your thighs / bum in circular motions. By ensuring there is a lot of lather on the sponge it won't pull at your skin and damage it, so be sure to do that. 

Pay particular attention to the most affected area. This is generally the sitting area so concentrate the circular moments there. 


STEP 3
COMB IT/ EXFOLIATE IN CIRCULAR MOTION

Yes, comb it. I have no idea, how I came up with this but I am sure as hell it works! 

The comb I use is the one below in the image. It is a guy's comb I think but it so should be rebranded! 

After scrubbing one side of your bottom and torso for 3 minutes or so, as described. Keep the later on and in rub your thighs and bum with the comb in a circular motion, in small areas. Repeat on the other bum cheek and wherever else you wish.

STEP 4
RUB IN OIL / MOISTURISER AND RUB IN CIRCULAR MOVEMENTS WITH THE COMB


Whilst the skin is still quite damp rub on some body oil with your hands. Rosehip is a personal favourite. It contains essential fatty acids to assist with skin repair. 

Next, using a similar toothed comb, work the oil into the skin in a circular motion, in particular the areas where you have any uneven skin. 


STEP 5
DRINK (more) WATER TO FLUSH THE TOXINS

Your skin now needs to flush out the toxins that you have stirred up and get rid of them.

It is essential to drink water to carry these bad boys out of your system.

If you follow such a treatment without drinking it is a waste of time and will certainly affect how affective it is. 


So that is my miraculous secret. Does it work, I sincerely believe it does, but why not give it a try yourself.
